Why the Olympics is the greatest sporting event in the world?

The Olympics is the greatest sporting event in the world. Every four years you have the best athletes from all over the world, under one roof showing off there athleticism and patriotism. From the open ceremony, to the games itself, to the closing ceremony it’s a sporting spectacle like no other. The beauty of the Olympics is that it draws people together, and for a moment in time distracts us from all that is going on in the world.

What I love most about the Olympics is the raw emotions, pride and passion on display from all the athletes competing at the games. Whether is a feeling of jubilation from winning a medal, or the agony of defeat, it’s a sight to behold. Too many times in sports we talk about how the love of the game is missing and the athletes are only in it for the money.

Well at the Olympics we see athletes who trained there whole lives for this moment, giving it there all for there family and country. Seeing there hard work, sacrifice, commitment and dedication paying off on a world stage is a feeling of satisfaction and pride. We send the best of the best athletes to compete at the Olympics, and there greatness mirrors our greatness as a society and county.

The Olympics like sports in general is not without its controversy. We’ve seen several doping scandals particular with Russia this year. However, with the Olympics the good vastly outweighs the bad, and the world is engulfed in its magnificence and greatness. The Olympics is truly the greatest sporting event in the world, because it’s no other event that brings out these wide range of emotions.
