Biggest winners in the 2016 NBA Draft

Biggest winners in the 2016 NBA draft.

1. 76ers (Ben Simmons) ” The process” has finally paid off for the 76ers. They have been “tanking” for the last few years to get the top overall pick. They came up short in several drafts but not this time. The 76ers lacked a point guard and Simmons is a 6’10 PF with playing making abilities and great court vision. Best player in the draft.

2. Phoenix Suns (Dragan Bender, Marquese Chris, Skal Labissiere, Tyler Ulis)
Phoenix got two young Pf’s in Dragan Bender and Marquese Chris. The Suns have been high on both players and to get both in one draft is spectacular. Those two are going to make a dynamic pairing down low. Chris has great athleticism and is loaded with potential. Bender is a 7′ footer with great handle and a fluid jump shot. Labissiere has stretch four potential and can play the role of Channing Frye later in his career.

3. Timberwolves (Kris Dunn)
The Timberwolves added Kris Dunn to an already young and exciting Timberwolves team. Wiggins, Towns, Lavine, Rubio (for now) and Kris Dunn. Dunn is the best PG in the draft and can contribute right away. The wolves are going to be scary good for years to come. Combine this young talent with the greatness of Tom Thibodeau and you have something special.

4. Brooklyn Nets (Caris LeVert and Isaiah Whitehead)
For a team that didn’t have a first round pick leading up the the draft this is a huge win for the Nets. LeVert if healthy would have been a lottery pick. He has great size for the 2 gurard positions and is a good ball handler.

5. International players
An NBA record 14 international players was drafted in the first round. There is now one active foreign player on every NBA roster. This a testament to the growth and development of the game.

Others winners

Atlanta Hawks (Prince and Bembry)
The Hawks add much needed depth on the wings. Two good players who have the potential to be solid 3 and D guys.

Denver Nuggets ( Murray and Beasley)
Murray is the best shooter in the draft and could form a nice backcourt with Emmanuel Mudiay. Beasley is a great one on one scorer and has a good feel for the game.

This draft wasn’t that high on star potential after Simmons and Ingram, so the key was picking up depth and adding quality role players. I think a lot of teams was able to accomplish this tonight.
